MARGARET LANCASTER
is an associate in the Washington D.C. office of Skadden,
Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in the Communications Practice Group. Margaret's
practice consist of representing licensees, investors, lenders and governments in the
areas of telecommunications services and equipment. Margaret handles a variety of
regulatory issues associated with corporate finance transactions, including public
offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities, and international
securities offerings as well as representing clients before the Federal Communications
Commission and state regulatory agencies. Currently, Margaret is providing advice
and regulatory analysis to the Government of South Africa in their ongoing effort to
liberalize the countries telecommunications market.
Margaret received her bachelors degree in Political Science from North
Carolina State University and her Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of
Law. Prior to law school, Margaret worked for MCI Communications Corporation in
the Office of Law & Public Policy. At MCI she developed an expansive knowledge
of telecommunications technology, including intelligent network design, cellular
telephony, PCS/PCN, satellites, electronic switching systems, and optical fiber
implementation.
