MICHAEL JAMES BROWN
is the Director of Layouts, Order
Processing, Contracts and Pricing for News America Marketing.
News America Marketing, a part of News Corporation, is the premier advertising
resource for name brands in the United States and Canada. News America Marketing’s
advertising vehicles include, the 4/color Free Standing Insert (SmartSource™ Magazine),
In-store Instant Coupon Machines, In-store radio, SmartSource.com, etc.
Prior to joining News America Marketing, Michael has held positions of increasing
responsibilities with: Deluxe Check Printers (1985-1989), Moore Data
Management (1989-1992), and Matthews Interlational (1994-1996)
Michael, a recipient of the Whitney M. Young, Jr. award, given by The
Urban League for community service, has been involved with numerous projects over
the years. In 1988, he served on a committee that approved non-profit organizations for
corporate contributions. In 1988 and 1989, he was a business advisor to local High Schools
in the Junior Achievement program. More recent involvement has been as a Big Brother with the Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, from 1996 to the
present. In 1998, he served as an in-class instructor in the North Long Beach School system,
for the Junior Achievement Program. Also working with Food From The
‘Hood, to develop an ad to give them national visibility in our advertising products. Food
From The ‘Hood is a program that helps inter-city kids raise money to finance their
college educations.
More recent involvement has been with the high school intern program, co-sponsored
by the 100 Black men and News Corporation. In this program promising high school
students, are given part-time work assignments in companies through out New York City.
